The ideal kitchen has a comfortable squashy sofa or armchair where you can curl up with a cup of coffee or glass of wine while waiting for the timer to tell you supper is done or simply to enjoy a few minutes of blissful solitude. There are plenty of other leisure activities that can and do take place in the kitchen, however, involving all members of the house hold. Many kitchens have a small television, music system, and even a desk or table for household management and paperwork. This is the area, in a big kitchen where you might also want a computer for work, play and access to the internet. If possible, keep TV and music systems off the floor. Compact models will fit on a shelf or wall bracket.
